A Sexual Haunting

Over the years, there have been many reports of sexual hauntings caused by two specific demonic entities, an incubus (male spirit) & a succubus (female spirit). These are mainly nocturnal spirits who prey on sleeping victims, but there has been reports of females being sexually assaulted during the day whilst they have been fully awake. One of the most famous reports was made into a book & later a film, ‘The Entity’.

If the attack happens on the female during sleep, she will not awaken but will dream about it, feeling everything as if they were awake. According to legend, if the woman became pregnant after the incubus attack, the baby would grow normally inside the woman, but would possess supernatural powers. That child would later grow to be an evil person, or become a wizard with great power. The legend continues stating Merlin, the great wizard, was the result of an incubus attack on a nun.

A succubus is a female who preys on men. Another legend states, an incubus and succubus were fallen angels. The word incubus is the Latin word for ‘nightmare’, & succubus derives from medieval folklore telling the story of a female demon or evil spirit. She also visits men in their sleep & lies with them to have ghosty intercourse. The Biblical Lilith, the first wife to Adam before Eve, is said to have been the first succubus on earth. There are many different versions of the Lilith myth in all religions all over the world & have many different names, such as Marilith or Lilitu, but they all have one common theme, a demon woman with wings, who seduces, & sometimes murders men – Succubus.

There are many legends about the incubi. As I mentioned above, the incubi is said to be a fallen angel in Judeo-Christianity who fell to earth after having sex with mortal women. Since then, the incubi continues to walk the earth & seduces women in their dreams & impregnates them. The children of the incubi are said to grow up to be rapists. If the evil person raped & murdered in life, after their passing they will be refused access in to heaven or hell. Instead they remain on the earth plane as a sinister spirit with the same agenda & personality, free to roam the earth & indulge in intercourse with whomever they choose. It is not surprising that they earned themselves the title of an incubus or succubus.

Another version to the legend derives from Zanzibar, an entity known as the ‘Popo Bawa’ usually preys on men whilst sleeping in their beds. There are loads of different stories from all over the world.

Some people tend to confuse the story of the incubus & succubus with the Old Hag Syndrome. However this story is not as pleasant as the sexual demons,(or unpleasant depending on how you look at it). With this attack, the victim is awake in the night but suffers with paralysis. They feel an intense pressure on their chest & see an old hag staring back at them. The hag installs a sense of death into the terrified victim, leaving them feeling like they are being suffocated & fighting for their life.
